Kendal 35, Caldy 28.
Four first-half tries and one early in the second half gave Kendal a winning lead and spoiled Caldy's hopes of finishing their North Division One season in style.
Kendal had switched their emphasis from running rugby to hard tackling throughout the side and their pack dominated their illustrious visitors.
Caldy put the first seven points on the board before wilting under the forward onslaught which put Kendal 25-7 up with just 15 minutes left.
The departure of heavyweights Richard Harryman and Mike Capstick, who had given their all for the cause, lessened Kendal's domination and Caldy began to look more like a championship winning side as their backs carved through to score three tries.
Neverthless it was a morale-boostiing win for Kendal ahead of their Cumbria Cup semi-final with arch-rivals Penrith next Saturday.
