Kendal 18, Penrith 14.
Kendal won their way through to a Cumbria Cup final in a gritty local derby at Mint Bridge.
Penrith took a seven point when slick inter-passing allowed centre Martin Armstrong burst though for a try under the post converted by Wood.
But Kendal's powerful pack dominated the maul and ruck and a pushover try converted by Andrew Boardley levelled things up just before the half-time whistle.
Kendal continued to play to their strength in the second half the pack drover for a second, unconverted try.
Penrith infringements allowed Boadley to grab a further six points from two penalties.
Penrith's slick-looking threes eventually scored wide out and Wood added the two points, but with only a couple of minutes left it was too late for Penrith to score the try they needed.
Victory means Kendal will meet Carlisle in the final at Penrith, on Saturday, April 21.
