ULVERSTON Swimming Club completed a near clear sweep of individual titles at the Cumbria County Championships.

They club won an incredible 16 out of 17 events to record their greatest ever achievement - with Rebecca Fell the club's stand-out performer in the pool, winning a magnificent 11 senior titles.

She also added three Junior Ladies titles to her name.

Alix Knagg also enjoyed huge success with three Ladies titles and one Junior Ladies crown.

Nicola Capstick and Amy Richardson also took one title each and, not to be outdone, Tom Robinson managed to snatch a bronze medal in the 200 Butterfly.

On numerous occasions, Fell and Knagg found themselves battling it out for the major honours producing some marvellous contests.

Fell’s results demonstrated the depth of her all round ability winning the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 400 Individual Medley, 200 freestyle - where she beat club-mate Knagg by a finger nail - the 50m Butterfly and the gruelling 200m butterfly.

Despite her battles with Fell, Knagg came into her own in the 400m Freestyle where her skill and power produced an outstanding win.

It was that power that took her to two more titles in the 100m and 200m backstroke .

However the 50m backstroke saw the upset of the Championships with the Otters 13-year-old Nicola Capstick producing a stunning swim, injecting a burst of pace to storm to a magnificent win.

Completing the club’s run of success, Richardson tackled the 50m freestyle sprint where she held over her rivals to claim a remarkable victory.
