NEARLY 40 per cent of Cumbria's young hockey players have gained selection for this summer's Junior Regional Performance Centres in Durham City, Manchester and Leeds.
Out of 122 girls who graduated through the England Hockey development system in Cumbria last winter, 44 are going to Durham, three to Manchester and two to Leeds. And out of 66 boys, 18 will benefit from top level EH coaching at Durham and eight in Manchester.
Successful youngsters at the JRPCs go on to represent the north's Pennine Pumas side against the best young players from the Midlands, South East and South West who are also trying to impress for junior international selection.
