Martin wins Ambleside open bowls single title
AMBLESIDE Bowling Club held their annual open singles competition, sponsored by retired local businessmen and club members.
From the field of 32, the quarter finals saw the elimination of John Dodd (Ambleside), Paul Hillam (Halifax), Chris Wyatt (Windermere) and Ken Brenkley (Crosshills) The semi-finals saw Ian Nicholson (Victoria) ease past Paul Kissock (Levens) 21-11 whilst Martin Gilpin (Victoria) had no problem in seeing off John Parkin (Crosshills) 21-6 with his corner to corner accuracy.
A nip and tuck final, Gilpin edged past Nicholson 21-19.
