WINDERMERE Golf Club’s head professional Simon Edwards secured his eighth win of the season at the Yorkshire PGA Premier pro-am, held at Ganton and Fulford Golf Clubs.

The competition saw Edwards win by just one stroke, with an overall stableford score of 77 points; 37 at Ganton and 40 at Fulford.

Competing against 171 other participants, Edwards finished the final round with a birdie and an eagle to secure the winning title.

It’s been a particularly strong season for Edwards, who, only last month, came first at the Crosby Beacon Trophy open competition with a score of 67. In March, he triumphed in the golfbreaks.com Pinehurst pro-am competition at Kiawah Island and in February produced a string of birdies during the PGA North Taylor Made overseas pro-am in Portugal.

“I’m delighted with my performance, not only this season, but at the Yorkshire PGA Premier pro-am, which is one of the biggest events of the year for me,” said Edwards. “Ganton in particular is a very tough course, so a good performance there, followed by the same at Fulford secured an excellent result.”
