SWIMMING stars Ella Mounsey and Scott Womack secured a hat-trick of wins at the recent Kendal’s Club Championships.

Their hauls began at the ladies and gents 200m freestyle where Mounsey battled it out with Hannah Edwards and Megan Jones - who both put in strong challenges and finished second and third respectively.

Womack showed lots of controlled aggression and as the race progressed pulled away for a comfortable win over Ollie Sargeant and Louie Tideswell.

Next came the 50m backstroke races and the ladies event brought a repeat with Mounsey taking gold ahead of Edwards and Jones.

Womack also took another title with a storming swim. Off to a magnificent start he put himself on the front and forged ahead.

Out of his turn kept up the pace and powered his way to victory ahead of Sargeant and Jake Bryant.

The closing senior events saw Mounsey and Womack complete their trebles with fine all round swims. Again it was Edwards and Jones who took the minor places for the girls and Gregor Fletcher and Sargeant for the boys.

Elsewhere Lucie Bulman dug deep into her reserves and produced an injection of pace that brought her the win in the u11s with Emma Foster taking silver and Emma Capstick bronze.

Elliot Woodburn forced the pace to take the boys title holding off spirited challenges from James Escolme and Finley Lawson.

A series of 100m Individual Medleys gave swimmers the opportunity to demonstrate their all round abilities and the girls u12s produced a fascinating race with specialists Caitlin Deegan (Backstroke), Lucy Sargeant (Butterfly) and Skye Hunter-Dale (Breaststroke) providing the action.

Following a tremendous demonstration of superb skill and all round talent it was Sargeant who emerged the winner with Deegan taking silver and Hunter-Dale bronze.

Alex Tallon proved to be in great form and gave a terrific display to hold off Jacob Klijn and Elliot Woodburn to come through and win.

Then came the turn of the u14s and again the girls produced an outstanding race. Megan Jones, Taylor Aplin and Josie Johnson provided the excitement with all of them making challenges at different stages. Shoulder to shoulder they strained to get an advantage and in the final stages Jones launched a devastating attack which took her through to win.

Following his earlier disappointments Ollie Sargeant finally triumphed to win the boys title with a marvellous all round effort.

Louie Tideswell held on to take silver and Tommy Klijn the bronze.
