VICTORIA A closed the gap on Kendal and District Bowling League Division One leaders Holme A with a stunning 8-2 victory over the top side.

Three of the matches ended 21-20, all in favour of second-placed Victoria A, as they narrowed the lead to just four points.

Holme A stay out in front with only four vital matches left to decide who will take the title, however third place Kings Arms Hale A are exerting pressure on the top two after this week’s 10-0 win at home to sixth place Levens A.

At the other end of the division Holme B improved their position to tenth by producing their second win of the season against eleventh place Lower Holker A 8-2 - but only one point separate these two teams.

Lindale A stayed clear at the top of Division Two despite a 6-4 defeat away at fourth place Netherfield C.

Kirkby Lonsdale A are in second place after a comfortable 7-3 home win over Allithwaite A while Staveley A's 8-2 win over Victoria B put them into third.

The top two teams in Division Three met and it was second place Abbot Hall who used their home advantage to pull off a comfortable 7-3 win over leaders Ambleside A.

The result narrowed the gap between the top two to five points with four to go.

Third place Ambleside B continued with good form at home winning 8-2 over ninth place Endmoor A and fourth place Holme C lost away at Windermere B 8-2.

Bowness B picked up some much needed points at the bottom of the division in a 7-3 away win at Lower Holker B.

Division Four promotion hopefuls Heversham A continued their recent good form with a 7-3 win at Staveley B while third place Burneside B dispatched of Netherfield D 7-3.

However fourth place Crosthwaite B did not have a good result losing 9-1 away at Kings Arms Hale C whilst leaders Burton B sustained their lead at the top by eight points following a 7-3 win at home to Langdale.

Arnside B remain top of Division Five after a tense 5-5 draw against challengers Victoria C while there are now just two fixtures left to play in Division Six - with both top two teams set to each sit out for one of these each.

Burneside C, who lead the division by 12 points, won away 7-3 at Endmoor C and contenders Victoria D also won at Lindale D.

Lindale D and Windermere D will play the last two matches so will be looking for good wins to try and sneak a promotion place off the other two teams.
