VICTORIA'S Martin Gilpin and Ian Nicholson picked up the top prize at Sunday's Netherfield Bowling Club Open Doubles.
Sponsored by Netherfield Cricket Club, Clarks International and A & S Luisi Builders Ltd, the event was the club's biggest competition of the season with 46 pairs taking part and the winners pocketing £300.
Starting off in brilliant sunshine the day deteriorated with the final rounds played in heavy rain.
Gilpin and Nicholson overcame Ray Russell (Carnforth) & Matty Stewart (Holme) in the last four before beating Billy Thornton and Daniel Edmonds (Hawcoat Park) 21-5 in the final.
Thornton and Edmonds had earlier beaten Andy Thornton and Simon Brown (Kings Arms Hale) 21-18.
