DAVE Mansergh bagged a hat-trick to lift Crooklands Casuals off the foot of the Premier Division of the West Lancashire Football League with their first points of the season.

The Cassies went into Saturday's fixture against Eagley with five losses on the bounce but took a well deserved lead in the 17th minute when Mansergh turned a defender and created enough space to find the far corner of the net with a curling left foot shot.

Dave Woodburn sparked off another great attack down the left hand side on 31 minutes which ended with Mansergh beating the keeper again.

With half-time approaching Chris Wraighte won himself a corner from which he provided a dangerous cross which was diverted by a defender into his own net.

Just after half time Cassies went route one when keeper Bamber sent a powerful kick way down field which was expertly headed on by Steve Caskie and bounced up nicely for Mansergh to hammer into the roof of the net.

Crooklands continued to dominate and Caskie was rewarded with a much deserved goal.

Eagley then had a decent spell and looked dangerous on several occasion before claiming a consolation goal in the 77th minute through Heath Aincow.

In Division One, a Ryan Brown double was not enough for Askam United as they were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Wyre Villa.

Brown opened the scoring on 11 minutes before Danny Ball levelled just six minutes later. Brown then put Askam back in front before the break but parity was restored through Jarrod Bain.

Kyle Jefferson gave Askam hope of picking up the three points with a 72nd minute strike but they were forced to settle for a point when Adam Brooks scored late on.

Elsewhere Rossa Miller scored a late consolation for Dalton United as they lost 2-1 at home to Tempest United, and Furness Rovers were 2-0 winners over Swarthmoor Social.

Meanwhile, Matthew Clark scored his first goal for Kendal County from the spot to beat Millom by a narrow 1-0 scoreline in Division Two.

And Milnthorpe Corinthians maintained their fine form with a 4-1 win away at Walney.

The goalscoring opened when Peter Baxendale latched onto a neat through ball from Cory Vickers in the second minute and slotted neatly past the advancing Walney keeper to open the scoring.

Corinthians dominated the play and on 19 minutes Rob Wilson smashed in a second from 25 yards.

The second half continued in the same fashion with Corinthians not capitalising on their possession until the 62nd minute when a sharp pass from Wilson put Baxendale through one on one - this time a fine chip bagged his second.

On 78 minutes Wilson side footed an easy chance to make it 4-0 before Danny Taylor grabbed a consolation goal for Walney - giving young Corinthians debut keeper Tom Taylor no chance from 12 yards.
