WINDERMERE Golf Club once again held their annual ‘finals weekend’, with competitions played across the men’s, women’s, senior and junior sections during the two day event.

More than 80 participants took part, in very fine conditions, with a number of cups, trophies and medals issued to the most successful contestants.

In the men’s section, the Gatey Cup was won by Tudor Griffiths over 36 holes, with Andy Rollins in the runner up position.

In the ladies' section, Jane Harper was named the champion over 36 holes, with Wendy Foster in the runner up position.

Richard Waple was the winner of the Birthwaite Bowl in the seniors section and Mark Chapman was declared the champion in the junior section, with Mark Jackson the victor in the Hydro Trophy against Andrew Millray in the scratch competition over 36 holes.

Heralding the end of the golf season, Windermere has been holding the ‘finals weekend’ for many years, as club captain Clive Matthews explains:

“The finals weekend is tradition now at Windermere, with many of the cups and trophies going back many years.

“As a club, we created the event so we could all get together and enjoy a great golfing weekend, celebrate the end of the season and credit our talented players. As ever, the weekend was a real success, with the greens and course in absolutely immaculate condition.”
