DALLAM School pupil Faye Bateson will fly to Australia on Monday to take part in the indoor netball World Championships.
The sport differs from standard netball as it is played in netted courts where the ball is never out of play so is fast and furious.
Bateson, 17, who lives in Lancaster, is part of the u18 squad.
She has been at Dallam since year Seven and has played for Cumbria, Lindale Netball Club and now her current club Westmorland Wanderers.
She also plays a part of the Regional Performance Academy in North East for the England pathway and Northumbria NPL squad U19.
Andrew Bateson, her dad, said: "She is inspired by netball and is always looking to inspire youngsters in Cumbria."
