HE MAY have missed out on the chance of walking out at Twickenham, but Vale of Lune under-12 starlet Lewis Trowse insisted he had still loved every minute of his team's tournament experience.

The side took part in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, held near Manchester, for the chance to play at half time during the Aviva Premiership Grand Final at Twickenham.

Unfortunately Trowse was not able to lift the Under 12 cup and claim his side's spot at Rugby HQ but Vale of Lune performed admirably in their group stage.

"Gelling in tournaments like this is important - we need to get good wins at the start of the season so all the other teams know that we’re a good team, because we are," said the Ripley St Thomas pupil.

“It would have been nice to get to Twickenham but we have done well anyway and I'm proud of that.”

Sale Sharks players even came down to keep an eye on the Lune side.

Former England favourite Danny Cipriani said: “It's nice to see the kids because it's what it is all about really.

“A lot of the England team are northern and there is a big influence on the game up here and it's amazing to see so many kids out here today.”
