ONLY a handful of Westmorland League teams progressed into the third round of the Cumberland County Cup after a disappointing weekend of results for the local sides.

Keswick however managed to ease past Mirehouse 4-0 at Fitz Park and Division Three side AFC Carlisle secured a 4-2 win over Windscale.

Due to cup commitments, only four league games took place.

League One holders Appleby got back to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 win over a depleted Kendal County side - Thomas Armstrong got the all-important strike.

Kendal United moved up to second following a hard-fought 2-0 win over Windermere.

United went in front thanks to a Danny Craig header after he found himself unmarked in the box.

Windermere had some chances of their own but Kendal sealed the win midway through the second half when Andy Lockhart scored from close range.

At Hilliard Park, Jack Bradley scored twice to help Ambleside United defeat Lunesdale United 2-0.

Elsewhere, Ibis edged-out Penrith Reserves - a Luke Deveney goal earning his side a 1-0 win that takes Ibis to fourth in the table.

In Westmorland League Division Two, Wetheriggs United Reserves remain a point clear at the top despite only drawing 3-3 at Shap, while Keswick Reserves managed only their second win of the season after winning 2-1 at Greystoke - Antony Stafford and Oliver Dunn with the goals.

The final game saw Staveley United and Kendal United Reserves draw 0-0.

Westmorland League Division Three continues to be dominated by Burneside Reserves as they went eight points clear thanks to a 4-2 win over Greystokes Reserves.

Scott O Callaghan snatched a brace with Lee Mc Neill and Liam Garnett also on target.

Kirkoswald Reserves won 3-1 at Dent - Macauley Forsyth with two goals whilst Ewan Willacy also getting on the scoresheet.

Ibis Reserves beat Penrith Academy 5-1 while Ullswater United and Appleby Reserves battled-out a 2-2 draw - Jack overs finding the net twice for Appleby.
