SCOTT Womack was the pick of the Kendal swimmers at the recent Garstang Open Medal Meet after winning five gold medals.

The club returned from Blackpool with a clutch of medals and personal best times but it was Womack who was the standout performer.

Womack was in brilliant form and won all five events he entered, thanks to some stunning performances.

He was untouchable in the 50metres backstroke and freestyle finals – streaking away at the start and powering into unassailable leads that took him to clear victories.

The 50m breaststroke and butterfly proved a little more difficult but an injection of pace in the pressure zone enabled him to snatch further wins.

Putting all four strokes together in the 100m individual medley, Womack called on all his talent and experience to come through ahead of his rivals.

Bethany Rowley also impressed in the pool, the quickly improving 11-year-old adding three gold medals to her collection. She stormed to glory in the butterfly and breaststroke and then in the100m medley, producing solid swims over all four strokes for an another impressive win and a PB.

Caitlin Deegan, 11, and 12-year-old Josie Johnson both picked up a trio of gold, silver and bronze medals for their efforts.

Deegan completed a ‘full house’ of medals, storming to success in the freestyle, claiming silver in the medley and followed up with a bronze in 50m butterfly.

Johnson was just too good for her rivals in the 50m backstroke where she reigned supreme. She too then went on to lift silver for the 100m medley and bronze at 50m freestyle.

Alex Tallon, 11, completed the club’s gold collection with an outstanding 100m medley display. And he added a silver in the 50m butterfly.

with a strong piece of swimming.

Three others joined the action taking a number of minor medals for their efforts.

Tommy Klijn took silver at backstroke, followed by bronze for butterfly and medley.

Freya Capstick swam her best time yet for 50m backstroke to win silver while Alice Eastwood’s technique at 50m breaststroke earned her a bronze medal.

The young nine-year-olds, Lucy Klijn, Elise Tallon, Elliot Jones and James Escolme, embarked on their careers and all achieved Personal Bests with some encouraging swims.
