KENDAL director of rugby Steve Whitehead feels that his squad will need a more composure in their next match against high-flying Warrington.

The Mintcakes suffered their first defeat of the season in their last match to derby rivals Kirkby Lonsdale, who took the points with a 24-19 victory.

Now the North One West side face an equally tough test against league leaders Warrington and Whitehead thinks that some added composure may just give them the edge.

He said: "For large parts of the game against Kirkby we were in control but we handed a couple of the decisions to them and from there we lost composure. We didn't need to go chasing the game when we were ahead and we need to keep that in mind against Warrington.

"In these tight games is composure at key moments and in key areas that will make all the difference.

"Warrington are a big strong side but we know how to play against them as is shown in our record. I'm expecting them to turn up well drilled and very capable, it will be fine margins that decide things.

"I think Warrington will be particularly strong up front but our front row performed great against Kirkby so it will be a good contest.

"It's been a big four or five weeks for us and with no let up in intensity, so we've gained a lot of experience and I think we are always building and we are always reflecting on our mistakes.

"We have got some very experienced players and also some very young ones. There's been lots of changes and with it plenty of learning curves so it's just time to get back to it now.

"No need to panic about the defeat, we've just got to remain composed and think business as usual."

Kendal have won three of their last four games against Warrington and are only three points behind them in the league, so a victory against the Cheshire side

Undefeated Warrington come into the game on the back of a comfortable 36-14 win at home to Penrith but the previous encounter with Carlisle was a close one with only two points separating the sides.

Kick off will be at 2:15pm.
