Four of the younger members of Kendal Judo Club came back with five medals after they entered the Lancashire Championships in Blackburn.

Nye Greasley quickly disposed of his first opponent Isaac Eccleston from Craven Judo Academy, Settle, with a 'Scarf Hold Down.'

This put Nye against another player from Settle, Ethan Tazzyman and an inner thigh throw, O Uchi Gari, halfway through the contest for the full Ippon point put the Kendal player through to fight for the gold medal against Joshua Gallagher.

Nye had been practising the previous week a new sweeping ankle technique and it paid off with a textbook application for the full point and the top spot.

Nathan O’Sullivan threw his first opponent Kamil Kotynia and followed it with an unbreakable chest hold.

A sweeping hip throw against Ian Russell from Accrington into a scarf hold put him into the fight for gold against Ivan Robertshaw of Settle.

The contest did not last long with Nathan swinging into a very fast sweeping hip throw for the top medal.

Tom Finn was in the top age band and his first fight of the day did not go well when he was thrown for Ippon by James Calderbank from Lancaster University.

He got over the shock by armlocking Alex Kerry from Clayton Green and strangling Jordan Snape from Accrington into submission with a 'Naked Neck Lock.'

This put the top three players in the category in a draw situation and in the fight off to decide the medal places Tom reversed the result of his first fight against James Calderbank with a collar strangle for the win before he armlocked Jordan Snape for the gold medal.

Ellie Judson won against Kayley Lynn from Craven Judo Academy in the dying seconds of the contest with a hold down.

Chanel McCullion from Shadsworth, Blackburn was quite a bit heavier and the Kendal player lost to a sacrifice throw.

Like Tom Finn this put the top three level on wins and points so they had to have a re-fight resulting in a bronze for Ellie.

However, she had impressed the officials with her determination that they asked her to help make up the numbers in the next category which she clinched bronze again.
