Kendal Town tasted defeat as they lost 2-0 at Burscough on last night.
Town, who were playing their first of eight games in February, were never at the races against a Burscough side aiming for the playoffs.
The hosts started the game well and went close in the early exchanges as Mike Smith's effort went wide of the post before Will Jones's spectacular overhead kick went over the bar.
Burscough continued to miss good chances with Nick Ryan's header going over, before Liam Rice hit the post.
Kendal finished the half strongly in breezy conditions with Morecambe loanee Charlie Bailey seeing his close range shot saved by Calvin Hare in the Burscough goal.
Burscough broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when Will Jones got on to the end of a good cross by Mike Smith to score past Will Kitchen.
The hosts continued to dominate as Will Jones went close before Joseph Camozzi's curling shot was saved by Will Kitchen, who pushed the ball out for a corner.
However Burscough made the game safe in the 83rd minute as Liam Rice scored from a corner.
Kendal host Glossop North End on Saturday before travelling to play Lancaster City the following Tuesday night as they look to bounce back.
