With a free weekend for Kendal's Senior Rugby side, the club's ever-growing youth section took centre stage in a busy Sunday morning of rugby at Queen Katherine School.

The Mini and Youth Section at the club are now in their third year and with over 300 registered players at Kendal, there is a great pool of players for senior squads of the future.

With the drier weather, it meant that once again Kendal Hornets could host rugby fixtures for girls and boys aged 6-12 years old.

Sundays visitors were Vale of Lune from Lancaster and Upper Eden from Kirkby Stephen and the pitches resounded with the noise of players shaking off the rust of winter.

By the time the games had finished, it was clear that washing machines around Westmorland and north Lancashire would be working overtime, as the players made their way back to the clubhouse for a post match meal.

In the coming weeks, the Minis are taking part in a Festival at Newcastle Falcons, travelling to Fylde and hosting teams from Cumbria and Lancashire.
