KENDAL Judo Club continues to attract players from abroad as a great place to receive top class coaching.

Following on from Australian Toby Sagacio's visit two weeks ago, a group of twelve 16 to 18-year-old students from Valencia, Spain, arrived at the Kendal Dojo for training and help with their English.

Valencia judo is the number two ranking region of Spain and among the group were nine players listed in the International Judo Federation (IJF) Ranking lists for Cadet and Junior players.

For most of the group it was their first time training outside Spain.

Under the watchful eyes of performance pathway centre coaches Danny Harper and Danny Carr they had a daily early morning run, stamina and conditioning training.

This was followed by two sessions of judo a day alongside Kendal’s top players in their age group with AASE (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) coach, two times Olympian Sophie Cox and Kendal senior coach Michael Liptrot putting them through a very hard regime.

Also during the day they were given practical lessons in English such as a trip into town to bring back answers to questions about Kendal and reading the Westmorland Gazette.
