A KENDAL motorbike racer had a successful start to the British Superstock 600 Championship at Silverstone at the weekend.

Bradley Perie, 16, was riding his H-Racing Yamaha R6 at a track he had never before raced on as part of a 42-strong grid.

In tricky conditions Perie qualified 20th for the race, his hot-lap just a second below that of 10th place.

He got off to a great start in the race on a cold Silverstone circuit, climbing his way up to 15th position, but dropped to 19th after he was forced wide through a corner. With no further change this is where he finished.

Perie said afterwards: "The pace of all the riders is so fast, nobody gives an inch and it's the first time he's had to fight with a group of seven riders just to try and get one point.

"It's a solid start to the season and it's all very mad but I want to be the best, and racing in British superbikes is the only way I can do this.

"It's all very exciting and there is so much more to come from myself and the team."
