A NUMBER of Ulverston swimmers made their way to Sunderland in search of long course qualifying times to enhance their chances at up-and-coming regional events.

Three of the Otters had great weekends and came up with performances to be proud of, bagging PBs and medals.

Shannon Parker dominated the 100m freestyle in which she got a great start over the first 50m and placed herself in a position for success.

Heading for the finish she moved up a gear, launching a devastating attack to take the gold with a marvellous finish.

She then put herself in a position for success in the 50m freestyle sprint with another great show of technique and skill and in a blanket finish was just touched out into silver position.

The 50m fly sprint saw her give another supreme effort which brought her the gold medal. She also got regional qualifying times and PBs from her five events.

Nicola Capstick was also in impressive form and in the 50m backstroke sprint was untouchable, dominating the race. She then went on to take bronze in the 200m backstroke but despite a PB time had to be content with a fourth place in the 100m.

In the 50m butterfly sprint she produced another medal-winning performance, taking the bronze to bring her four PBs from six events.
