The Westmorland FA held its annual Veterans Festival on Saturday.
Teams from Staveley United, Carleton Banks, Kendal County and Sedbergh came together to play a round robin festival at Kendal United FC and Kendal County FC.
The matches were played over 25 minutes with players enjoying getting back into football as they met up with former team mates from their playing days.
Kendal County and Staveley started with wins in both of their first two matches against a well-organised Carleton Banks and a hard-working Sedbergh team.
Both games were narrow 1-0 and 2-0 score lines respectively. The final game saw Carleton Banks defeat Sedbergh 2-1, while both Kendal County and Staveley United played out a 0-0 draw.
With the title on the line, Kendal and Staveley agreed to a penalty shoot out to crown the winners, with Kendal winning.
Westmorland FA Community Coach Daniel Ferguson was delighted with the Festival. He said: “All the players really enjoyed the day, and there was plenty of footballing talent on display, despite most of the lads not being active players. It's definitely an annual event we will continue to run.”
The Westmorland FA is always looking to grow veterans football and if your team is interested in playing please contact Daniel.Ferguson@WestmorlandFA.com or call 07944033337.
