Some games were interrupted by heavy rain in an otherwise competitive afternoon of action in the South Westmorland Senior Bowling League.

In Division One, Netherfield A remained on top of the table after a comfortable 6-2 win at Bolton-le-Sands. In the other games Warton A stayed second after narrow a 5-3 win at Holme A, while Lindale A defeated Silverdale A 6-2.

There were also comfortable wins for Levens A, Lower Holker A and Netherfield B, who ran out 7-1 home winners over Springfield A.

Windermere A opened up a seven point gap at the top of Division Two after an important 6-2 win at Endmoor A, while Subscription A remained the nearest challengers after a 6-2 win at Warton B.

The other games saw wins for Crosthwaite A and Ingleborough A, who both won 5-3 over Arnside A and Bowness A respectively, while Heversham A defeated Milnthorpe A 7-1.

It was a rain-interrupted afternoon for teams in Division Three, as up to three games were washed out.

One of the games to be called off was the derby battle between Abbot Hall A and Victoria A. Victoria A at the time were leading 3-1 and needed four more points to collect what would have been a huge win.

Other games to be disrupted were Burneside Bs home game with Staveley A, while Subscription Bs game with Lower Holker B also came to an early finish.

There was better luck for Sedbergh B, who defeated Lindale B 7-1, while Carnforth B won 6-3 at Springfield B.

In Division Four, there were 6-2 wins for Holme B, Hawkshead, Levens B and Abbot Hall B, while Crosthwaite B defeated Kirkby Lonsdale B 7-1.

There were four games played in Division Five as Ingleborough B and Milnthorpe B both picked up 5-3 wins, while Windermere B and Heversham B both picked up emphatic results.
