Netherfield secured a place in this Sunday's Twenty20 Finals Day at Fleetwood after the derby game with Kendal was rained off at the end of the twentieth over.

The rain which swept through Shap Road meant that both Kendal and Netherfield were awarded a point each, which was enough for Netherfield to qualify for the showpiece occasion.

After a ten-minute delay due to the rain, Netherfield batted first and made a steady start as Craig Walmsley and Ben Barrow guided the defending Twenty20 Holders to 31.

While Netherfield were showing signs of their class, a youthful-looking Kendal side battled and gained the momentum after Barrow played at a Syed Ali delivery, with Richard Herron waiting behind the stumps to take the catch.

The loss of Barrow spurred Kendal on as Netherfield were reduced to 68-4, as Tom Bruce fell to a Richard Herron catch off a Marcus Hill delivery, while both John Huck and Craig Walmsley were bowled.

The Field continued to lose wickets as Nathan Dixon was bowled by Marcus Hill who closed on figures of 2-17, while Daniel Ingham was run out, with Dylan Hoyle trapped LBW by Syed Ali (2-30).

Ollie Hill fought on for an undefeated 11 off 15 balls, but Kendal's chances of victory were thwarted after rain fell at the close of the first innings as Netherfield struggled on a score of 107-7.

With the rain getting heavier, Netherfield captain Barrow and Kendal skipper Chris Miller shook hands and called the game off as Netherfield secured their passage into the Twenty20 Finals.
