IT was a high-scoring afternoon of action in the Westmorland Football League as many dramatic games were played.

In Division One Appleby climbed to the top of the table after a comprehensive 5-2 home win over Windermere SC. Bobby Atkinson scored twice, while Jordan Crawford, Liam Kinnear and John Coward also found the net.

Kendal United and Kirkoswald battled out a thrilling 4-4 draw at Bulmire Stripes. Danny Craig and Brandon Croskell Robinson scored twice for United. Nicholas Holden replied for Kirkoswald with a hattrick, while Sean Elliott was also on target. Kirkoswald who also had a player sent off were indebted to centre back Mark Winspear who saved a penalty after having to go in goal.

In the other games Pirelli routed Lunesdale United 12-3, while Penrith Reserves defeated Ambleside United 3-1.

Carleton Banks went top of Westmorland League Division Two after they saw off Endmoor KGR 3-2, in a top of the table contest. In the other games Lee Henderson scored twice after Wetheriggs United Reserves defeated Castletown United 6-2, Greystoke defeated Langwathby United 9-3, Ullswater United routed Staveley United 5-1, while Shap won 1-0 at Windermere Reserves.

Ibis Reserves defeated Kirkoswald Reserves 6-1 in Division Three, Tom Taylor scored a brace while Jay Hayton, Matt Harby and Joe Carradus were also among the goals.

Ambleside Town edged Endmoor KGR Reserves 2-1, AFC Carlisle routed Penrith Academy 8-1, while Appleby Reserves defeated Penrith Saints 7-0. Jack Overs with a brace while Max Winder, James Wostear and Aaron Winder also found the net.

* Keswick played Cockermouth in the Cumberland County Cup first round this week. Cockermouth won the game 2-1. Keswick dominated for much of the match, but repeatedly failed to score.
