The Westmorland Football League provided many goals in a competitive afternoon of action, as the race for league supremacy continued across the divisions.

Division One Holders Keswick climbed two points clear at the top of the table with a comprehensive 4-1 home win over an in-form Sedbergh Wanderers side. Jamie Little, Chris Rowley, Declan Robinson and Lewis Cumber all found the net, while Sedbergh pulled a goal back in the first half through Andrew Metcalf.

In the other games Ibis won the crucial battle at the bottom of the division after they saw off Ambleside United 2-0 at the Jubilee Playing Fields.

Wetheriggs United scored a last-gasp equaliser after they battled to a 2-2 draw at Kendal County Reserves.

Kendal opened the scoring in the first half through an Aiden Caswell penalty, however Wetheriggs equalised midway through the first half through a Niall Renwick strike.

County regained the lead midway through the second half through Callum Moffatt but Wetheriggs equalised in the 90th minute through Mike Yarkers late header.

In the final Division One game Penrith Reserves moved up to ninth in the table with a 9-1 win over Burneside.

The battle at the top of Division Two continued as Wetheriggs United Reserves climbed to the summit courtesy of a 5-3 win at Braithwaite. Scott Underwood scored a brace while Chris Forster, Jake Burrows and Joe Henderson sealed the victory.

Endmoor KGR also remained in contention as they picked up a 4-0 win at Langwathby United. Matthew Wilson, Nathan Dixon, Stefan Otway and Mike Teasdale with the goals as KGR’s good run continued.

Luke Fraser scored a brace as Shap remained undefeated after a dramatic 5-4 win at Dent. Keiran Kay, Jordan Palmer and Luke Pattinson all scored as the black and whites went third in the table.

Kendal United Reserves defeated Windermere Reserves 4-1 with Dylan Hoyle, Cameron Toal-Lim, Matt Kennedy and Josh Porter with the goals.

In the other games, Keswick Reserves edged Eden Thistle 2-1, Castletown United picked up a 4-0 win at Staveley united, while Braithwaite defeated Ullswater United 5-3.

In Westmorland League Division Three hat tricks from Korkoey Flamor Young and Joseph Dodds eased Ibis Reserves to an 8-0 win at Penrith Saints. Appleby Reserves picked up a 4-1 win at Endmoor KGR Reserves, Penrith Academy won 1-0 at Ambleside United Reserves while a brace from Elliot Oxley eased Sedbergh Wanderers Reserves to a 4-1 win over Kirkoswald Reserves.

AFC Carlisle from Westmorland League Division Three advanced into the next round of the Benevolant Trophy after they pulled off a penalty shoot out win over Division Side Kirkoswald. Both sides were level at 2-2 after 90 minutes before the game ended in extra time at 3-3 with Carlisle winning the shootout 4-3.

In the other games Pirelli progressed into the next round after a 3-0 win at Carleton Banks while Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves defeated Coniston 4-3.
