Ulverston Swimming Club staged an Open Meet at Kendal Leisure Centre and their swimmers had a highly successful day coming away with a host of medals, personal bests and qualifying times that will give them access to next year's events.

Most of the honours went to the girls led by nine-year-old Imogen Stoker who won an amazing eight golds. Her sprinting ability was outstanding and she proved to have too much skill and power for her opponents taking the top spot in 50m backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. She then upped the tactics to tackle the 100m events and again she reigned supreme where she won backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, then finished her stint with gold in the all round individual medley.

Amelia Mardel and Felicity Boyle were also multiple medal winners. Mardel dominated the age 10 group coming up with double wins at 50 and 100 breaststroke, and then gave a repeat at 50 and 100 freestyle. She then took the 50 butterfly sprint, but had to be content with bronze medals for 100 backstroke and individual medley.

Boyle had a mixture of success with brilliant wins at 50 butterfly and freestyle then followed up with silver medals for 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke. On to the 100s and she became very impressive setting the pace to which her opponents had no answer and took gold at butterfly, breaststroke and individual medley.

Nicola Capstick also got in the mix with comfortable winning performances for 50 and 100 butterfly, 50 freestyle and 100 individual medley.

Indya Sharp was again in her usual aggressive form and in 50 and 100 breaststroke forged ahead to win with a fair degree of ease. She then followed this up by taking Silver at 50 backstroke and butterfly and 100 individual medley.

Tom Robinson joined the action and had a fine meet. Contesting five events he emerged with solid victories in 50 and 100 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, 100 individual medley and silver for 100 freestyle.
