The Junior Cup and Benevolent Trophy competitions dominated on a dramatic afternoon of Westmorland Football.

In the Benevolent Trophy, Nial Renwick’s hattrick helped Wetheriggs United into the next round after a comprehensive 7-0 win over Greystoke.

Ambleside United also progressed after a hard fought 1-0 win over Pirelli, while Burneside edged into the next round after a dramatic 3-2 extra time win over Kendal County Reserves.

The first round of the Junior Cup saw Kendal United Reserves progress into the next round after a 3-1 win at Burton Thistle. Mat Kennedy, Connor Stephenson and Dale Atkinson with the crucial goals.

In the other cup games Endmoor KGR battled into the next round after a 4-1 win at Shap. Connor Crawshaw-Collins with a brace, while Bradley Hodgson and Matthew Wilson were also on the score sheet.

Cartmel and District Reserves sauntered into the second round after a comprehensive 11-2 win at Kirkoswald Reserves.

Braithwaite picked up a 4-1 win over Carleton Banks,Appleby Reserves edged out Dent 3-2, while Keswick Reserves also progressed after they defeated Coniston 4-3 after extra time.

In Westmorland League Division One, Declan Robinson's brace and a Lewis Cumber strike helped Keswick to a hard-fought 3-1 win over Kirkoswald. The result sees Keswick go five points clear at the top of the league, while Kirkoswald remain in seventh place.

Kendal United were also winners on a quiet afternoon in Division One with a 2-1 win over Windermere at Castle Drive. Danny Craig and Bailey Kenny with the goals that see Kendal move up to fifth place in the table.

There were no games played in Westmorland League Division Two, due to the Junior Cup, while two other league games were postponed.

In Westmorland League Division Three,AFC Carlisle went three points clear at the top of the table with a comfortable 5-0 win at Penrith Saints.

In the other games Penrith Royal moved up to fourth place after a 5-3 win at Burneside Reserves, Penrith Academy routed Ambleside United Reserves 7-0, while a brace from Dan McCandlish and a Liam Mason goal eased Sedbergh Wanderer Reserves to a 3-1 win at Penrith Town
