THE rain swept through the Westmorland Football League after only a few games survived on a quiet afternoon of action.

In the second round of the Junior Cup, Ullswater United from Westmorland League Division Two picked up a 3-0 win over Division Three side Ibis Reserves. The fixture that was switched to the Jubilee Playing Fields in Kendal proved to be highly competitive after Fred Dixons Ibis side pushed Ullswater all the way.

Nathan Chambers, Josh Ford, Joseph Dodds, and Korkoey Flamoer Young all missed plenty of good opportunities for Ibis who had the better of the game, while Ullswater created some openings through Keenan Moss.

However Ullswater pulled away from Ibis in the second half after three goals in the last fifteen minutes from Marc Armstrong, Keenan Moss and Tom Graham sealed the win for the Division Two side.

Westmorland League Division One saw two games played after Penrith Reserves pulled off a shock 4-2 win over Kendal United at Frenchfields, while Appleby moved to within two points of League leaders Keswick after a hard fought 2-1 win at Wetheriggs United with Jordan Crawford and John Coward on target for the visitors.

In Westmorland League Division Two Carleton Banks defeated Staveley United 2-1, while Eden Thistle closed the gap at the top after a comprehensive 5-2 home win over Castletown United.

Only one game survived in Division Three after Lunesdale United Reserves picked up a narrow 1-0 home win over Kirkoswald Reserves.
