KENDAL Town Ladies registered back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a comprehensive 6-0 home win over Preston North End Ladies at The Pye Motors Stadium.

Jess Tait led the charge with her second hat trick of the campaign, with Daisy Purcell and Lauren Downham also on the score sheet, while an own goal compounded the visitors' misery as Kendal ran riot.

The game was an emotional occasion for the team who were in action for the first time since the passing of former Ladies coach Neil Humble.

Kendal started the game well and created their first opportunity after just two minutes when Tait's powerful effort on goal rebounded off the post.

The Mintcakes continued to probe and were in front after 5 minutes when Tait's clinical through ball fell to Purcell who slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net after being left one on one with the keeper.

Kendal made it 2-0 five minutes later as Tait slotted the ball home from close range after powering her way through the Preston defence.

The Mintcakes continued to create plenty of opportunities while Preston struggled to get out of their own half.

And thy added a deserved third just before half time as Lauren Downham finished well past the keeper.

In the second half Kendal created further opportunities, through Charlotte Kendal who forced the keeper into a good save, while Downham and Sarah McCabe also forced the visiting keeper into action.

Kendal made it 4-0 after a ball into the box was put into the net by one of the Preston players before Tait's long distance effort flew into the net as Kendal found themselves 5-0 ahead.

The Ladies could have added even more goals with further opportunities from Thompson, McCabe and Lisa Rowlinson all going close.

However Tait completed her hat trick when a scintillating strike on goal fell into the back of the net as Kendal ran out comfortable 6-0 winners.

Kendal Town Ladies manager Dan Ross was delighted with his team’s performance. He said: “The team were fantastic today, they completely dominated and I don’t think that Preston had a shot on goal. It was such a spirited display, the hard work paid off, they played patiently and with confidence from the back, while they tried to be progressive in their play. The midfield was aggressive and dominant and they continued to disrupt Preston's play by winning the ball and maintaining possession. The ladies also pressed high up the pitch which forced them into errors and in attack they caused them all sorts of problems.

"Overall an excellent Team display, the last two games have been really pleasing for me, and we approach the upcoming games with confidence and momentum”

Kendal Town Ladies travel to play Preston on Sunday as they look for further points.
