ULVERSTON Otters continued their quest for honours and six swimmers made the trip to compete in this year's Blackpool Rocks Open Meet.

They met with varied success but came away pleased with their efforts which brought a number of qualifying times and P.B.s.

Nine-year-old Felicity Boyle opened their score with a brilliant display of skill in the 200 Individual Medley. A great start gave her a slight advantage but then it was a fight all the way to the finish. Finding that little bit extra she took Gold by a touch. A sprint finish at 50 Breaststroke brought her another Gold medal but she had to settle for bronze in the 50 Backstroke.

Backstroke specialist Indya Sharp came up with two well judged swims to comfortably take the bronze medals at both 50 and 100 Backstroke.

Amelia Mardel (100 Freestyle) and Maisie Allonby (50 Backstroke) battled bravely all day in multiple events but had to be content with a bronze medal each.

Then it was on to the Copeland Swimming Club Graded Gala where they were more successful. Ethan Alpress was in dominant form and outstanding performances brought him two gold and two silver medals. His power and skill at Freestyle proved outstanding and he quickly put himself on the front in both 50 and 100 making immaculate turns and in bursts to the finish his rivals had no answer. He then went on to collect silver at 100 Backstroke and 100 Individual Medley in brilliant times.

Anna Morrison continued to add to her clutch in the 100 Butterfly where challenges came in, but with that superb technique she responded with another injection of pace and stormed to a well earned gold before adding silvers at 100 Backstroke and 200 Freestyle and bronze in the 100 Freestyle.

The Otters had another gold medallist when 10-year-old Abigail Miller destroyed the opposition in the 50 Freestyle.

Annabel Crayston led the charge for minor places and fought her way into a Silver medal place at 100 Backstroke with a performance to be proud of. She then did the double with a fine display putting herself in a position for success in the 100 Individual Medley taking silver comfortably. She also took on the 50 Freestyle sprint and just touched out her challengers for bronze.

Maisie Allonby was to have similar success staying composed saving her exertions for a powerhouse finish drove her way to silver in the gruelling 200 Individual Medley. There followed two lifetime bests and a brace of bronze medals for her efforts at 100 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle.

Starr Huntington was another who found herself in the mix just losing out on the touch to collect the silver at 100 Backstroke and then in a blanket finish at the 50 Freestyle sprint took Bronze. Adrian Lee Cheong and Adam Jones both called on their skill to win bronze medals in the 100 Individual Medleys holding off their rivals with P.B. times.
