Kendal Town were held to a 1-1 draw with relegation threatened Goole at the Pye Motor Stadium. The Mintcakes had made the perfect start on the 35th minute when Sam Bailey set up Danny Forbes who slotted home from close range.

However the lead was short-lived when Nathan Modeste equalised three minutes later after the pacy striker capitalised on a mistake by Josh Wardle. Kendal created plenty of opportunities, however Goole were left to rue two chances before the game fizzled out as Kendal were left disappointed.

Kendal made a strong start and passed the ball around with plenty of pace and precision. The free flowing football from earlier in the campaign had returned as Kendal dominated the opening exchanges of the game.

The Mintcakes created their first opportunity on the 9th minute after Olli Wood outpaced the Goole defence before seeing his shot on goal sail over the cross bar.

Kendal, in control, were left to rue another good opportunity after Tom Kilifin blasted the ball over. While Kendal had the ascendency, Goole threatened down the other end when Matthew Semley placed the ball wide of the right hand post after being left unmarked in the penalty box.

While the game continued to open up, Kendal's confidence in possession grew before further opportunities by Josh Wardle and Paul Dugdale went over the bar.

Kendal's dominating play was rewarded on the 35th minute after Sam Bailey cut inside the penalty box from the left hand side before the former Bolton Wanderers midfielder placed the ball across to the unmarked Danny Forbes who finished from close range.

The lead was short-lived as Goole equalised three minutes later, when Nathan Modeste capitalised on a mistake by Josh Wardle before the centre forward's accurate finish from distance fell into the bottom corner of the net.

Kendal almost went 2-1 down five minutes later when Lewis Dennison’s headed attempt on goal rebounded off the post as both sides went in all square at half time.

There was a ten minute delay before the start of the second half after the linesman couldn’t continue due to an injury, however John Higgins came in at the last minute to take the flag.

Once play had resumed, Goole almost went 2-1 in front when Derry Robson’s effort on goal hit the underside of the crossbar, while Kendal saw numerous corners cleared by the visitors' defence.

Both sides play began to get disjointed, while Olli Wood, Tom Kilifin and Charlie Bailey created half chances, while Bailey’s free kick was pushed away by the Goole goalkeeper.

Kendal could have won the game late on only for Matthew Dudley to be denied by the Goole defence as Kendal were left disappointed as the game ended all square.
