KENDAL Ladies Wasps ended the year on a high note with an entertaining 35-22 home win over a resilient Sunderland Ladies Team.
Hayley Hodgson led the way with five tries as the Wasps battled to victory.
Kendal started the game well and raced ahead as Hodgson opened the scoring with a driving run that resulted in a try, Hodgson went on to double her tally moments later.
Sunderland pulled a try back against the run of play, before Kendal regained the initiative as Hodgson completed her hat trick.
Sunderland however made it a close finish at half time after the visitors scored at the death, while Kendal held a narrow 15-12 lead at the interval.
Hodgson completed her five-try haul during the second half, while further scores by Sarah Wilkinson and Michelle Larkin saw the Wasps hold a comfortable lead.
Sunderland despite their struggle at the bottom end of the table battled back with two late tries, while the Sunderland outside half missed out on two conversion attempts that hit the post.
Kendal though held out as the Wasps finish for the Christmas break, while they return on Sunday 8 January with an away game at Birkenhead Park Ladies.
