RECORDS were tumbling as Kendal Swimming Club held its latest round of Club Championships.

Megan Jones, Elliot Woodburn and Daniel Armstrong produced some stunning performances to set new marks smashing a total of five long-standing records between them.

Jones opened her account by winning the 200 Freestyle where she became locked in a titanic battle with Josie Johnson and Caitlin Deegan and shoulder to shoulder they challenged from start to finish. The 100 Individual Medley saw her at her best taking both the U14's and Ladies' Championships ahead of Josie Johnson and Lucy Sargeant with magnificent record swims. However Johnson’s sprinting prowess enabled her to turn the tables with a brilliant win to snatch the Ladies 50 Backstroke title ahead of Jones with Caitlin Deegan taking Bronze.

Woodburn used his outstanding ability to dominate the 100 Individual Medleys. In the U12s he quickly pulled clear of James Escolme and Adam Stansfield and stormed to the finish for the win and a new fastest ever time. He then went on to give a repeat performance to take the U14's title and record with Louie Tideswell in silver and Jacob Klijn in Bronze. Armstrong’s opener, the 200 Freestyle saw him have to call on all his skill and talent to hold off the challenges of Ollie Sargeant and Tommy Klijn and then switching to the 50 Backstroke sprint he managed to out-swim Scott Womack and Ollie Sargeant in a storming finish. Then he put it all together and produced his finest performance of the evening taking the 100 Individual Medley title, smashing the record in the process. The other 100 Medley title, the Girls' U12s gave Lucie Bulman her opportunity and how well she took it. Off the block she forged ahead and staying completely composed she drove her way through the four strokes to take the Championship with a fair degree of ease.

The Club’s future stars displayed their skills with Kiera Nelson and James Escolme winning the U11's 50 Backstroke ahead of Lucy Klijn and Ian Bethell in silver and Amelia Heath and Lennon Bell taking Bronze.
