Kendal welcomed Leyland and Chorley hoping to build on last week's solid performance.

Kendal started well. Building play from the back with patient passing the home side controlled the ball nicely as they searched for weaknesses in the opposition lines.

Aaron Screen opened the scoring dribbling this way and that into the away side's D before finishing in the corner. Kendal's dominance was rewarded once again when Jack Kerr found himself having only the keeper to beat. Employing his trademark spin, Kerr left the keeper wrong footed and left the ball in the goal.

The visitors started the second half with renewed vigour and pressed Kendal back into their defensive third. Earning themselves a penalty corner, Leyland and Chorley pulled a goal back when their shot was deflected away from Kendal's man on the line. However, the home side were not rattled and began to assert themselves once again. Pushing forward and dishing the ball from side to side, Kendal began to create more openings. Ewan Galloway picked up the ball, drove left and finished from an almost impossible angle with a reverse stick shot for Kendal's third. Capitalising on some fine team play in midfield, Screen found himself one-on-one with the keeper and calmly chipped the ball over the man to score his second and complete the 4-1 scoreline.

Sunday's attempt to make it a six-point weekend came unstuck when league-leaders Rochdale were 6-2 winners.

Kendal again started well and spent the first ten minutes camped in Rochdale's half as they looked for an opener.

However, although they created chances, the home side could not find the net. Rochdale began to earn more of the ball and mid-way through the half showed why they are in such a commanding position in the league. With impressive accuracy the away team converted three penalty corners and scored once in open play, all within just ten minutes. Shell-shocked, Kendal sought to see the half out without conceding again.

The second half was more even, despite Rochdale converted another penalty corner early in the half.

Kendal responded with some fine passing culminating in Screen scoring Kendal's first goal of the match with a great reverse stick strike. Chances came thick and fast at both ends of the pitch, and Kendal's keeper Rob Cartwright made several good saves. Rochdale scored from yet another penalty corner, showing the importance of being well drilled at set plays.

Kendal though mustered another response. Ewan Galloway scored Kendal's second as he finished off another piece of intricate passing. Although Kendal played some good hockey in spells, they lacked match-long focus and struggled to play consistently at the level required to earn anything from the encounter.
