KENDAL Town were beaten by a Scarborough Athletic keen to end their month-long winless streak.

The Mintcakes lost 1 - 0 away at Queensgate in a game where action was hard to come by.

Still hoping for a place in the playoffs despite their barren run, the home side spent most of the match un-threatened.

Kendal's first opening set the tone, with Josh Draycott scuffing a weak drive straight at home keeper Joe Green.

Scarborough had a few chances, first from James Cadman, who fired his shot wide, and then from Billy Logan, whose effort went straight into the arms of Kendal keeper Will Kitchen.

Cameron Murray also found his way into the box, but the ball was cleared before Benny Igiehon could react.

The second half was comparatively busy, with Scarborough opening the scoring with a headed goal by Matty Turnball, converting Benny Igiehon's free kick.

Scarborough's Logan nearly made it two, however his shot deflected over the crossbar.

Kendal earned a number of yellow cards towards the end of the game as tensions rose, however the action had dried up and they left the home side largely unchallenged in their one-goal advantage.
