Kendal Town 3 v 0 Mossley

Evo-Stik First Division North

KENDAL Town cruised to victory against ten man Mossley Town with a dominating display at the The Pye Motors Stadium on Saturday.

Matthew Poole opened the scoring after fifteen minutes before Matt Dudley's brace rounded off the win, which saw striker Mitchell Bryant sent off in the first half.

Kendal's first goal arrived when Sam Bailey's cross into the penalty area was headed home by Poole before Dudley punished some lacklustre defending to fire in from close range.

Kendal dominated and created plenty of opportunities as Ben Thomas tested Mossley shot stopper Will Jones, while Dudley's attempted drive on goal was cleared by the away defence.

Mossley were reduced to ten men after Bryant reacted to an innocuous challenge by Poole.

Bryant led with his head on the Kendal striker and left referee Leigh Doughty with no other option but to brandish the red card.

However the sending off lifted the visitors who began to create opportunities as Matt Burke cut inside and forced Will Kitchen into action before the former Morecambe shot-stopper made a one handed save to deny Callum Scullion's goalbound header from a corner..

The visitors continued to probe after Liam Ellis blazed over from close range just before half time.

Mossley created the better the opportunities in the second half despite the one man disadvantage.

Mossley's main danger-man was Ellis who created three good goal scoring opportunities all within the first ten minutes.

Ellis’s first shot on goal was stopped by Kitchen before he saw two goal bound efforts go wide of the post.

Kendal made the game safe on the 76th minute when Mike Aspin made a run down the right before delivering the ball into the penalty area. Dudley controlled the ball and unleashed an unstoppable shot that nestled into the top right hand corner of the net.

Mossley were awarded a penalty late on when Dan Johnson was barged into the net as he was about to head home.

But their miserable afternoon was completed when Matty Burke mishit his spot kick allowing Kitchen an easy save.
