KENDAL eased into the quarter Finals of The Meyler Cup following a seven wicket win over Thornton Cleveleys at Shap Road.

Chris Miller's 2-21 saw Thornton Cleveleys restricted to 134-6 off 40 overs.

In reply, Kendal were on their way to victory before the rain halted play.

Once both teams got back out onto the field, Kendal were set a revised total of 89 and Saeed Bariwala's undefeated 47 from just 51 balls balls saw Kendal close on 89-3 from 19 overs.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, Kendal controlled the early stages when Kuldeep Singh picked up the wicket of Joshua Vincent, while Matthew Park saw off Joshua Sackfield.

Thornton Cleveleys were then reduced to 28-3 when Richard Jenkinson was caught by David Batty off the bowling of Miller. The visitors moved onto 51 before Miller dismissed Jon Eade who was caught by Ben Phillips. They eventually closed on 134-6.

In reply, Lachlan Stewart and Bariwala made a good start as Kendal surged onto 23 before Stewart was trapped LBW by Joshua Rollinson.

Rollinson then put Kendal under further pressure after trapping Tom Aspinwall LBW, before Ben Phillips was dismissed by Richard Jenkinson, while Kendal were on 36-3.

However, Bariwala and Edward Price edged Kendal onto 69 before the rain saw both teams forced off the pitch.

After a lengthy delay that saw 17 overs lost, Kendal were set a Duckworth Lewis target of 89, which Bariwala and Price knocked off with ease.

Kendal closed on 89-3 off 19 overs to secure the win.
