SEDBERGH played host to the British Athletics Mountain Running Championships on Saturday.

Misty conditions greeted those representing clubs and a selecting their countries.

53 runners took on the two lap course, which involved two trips to the summit of Arant Haw.

Scotland's Andy Douglas won the race, finishing in 46:55.

Joshua Jardine of Helm Hill was making his England debut in the race and finished in 29th position overall with a time of 54:50.

Tom Addison was the quickest of the South Lakeland contingent taking part in the race, finishing 11th 50:39, just beating Salford's Chris Richards after a lengthy battle.

Ambleside's Peter Bray finished 14th with Kendal AC runner Jonny Dry in 16th. Ben Abdelnoor, of Ambleside, was 18th.

Sarah McCormack, also of Ambleside, finished as the third fastest lady in 56:44, finishing behind Bingley Harriers' Victoria Wilkinson and Birchfield's Emma Gould, who was running for England in the race. Helm Hill's Hannah Russell was 15th lady.

In the junior race, also taking place on Saturday, Kendal AC's Rosie Woodhams finished as third fastest girl.
