KENDAL’s second team climbed back into the automatic promotion places in the Palace Shield Division Two after winning by 12 runs against Gregson Lane.

Kendal were all out in the first innings for 161, after Terry Hunte top scored with 38. But Kendal claimed the win after Andrew Dugdale returned stunning figures of 9-24 as Gregson Lane were bowled out for 149 off 38 overs.

On Sunday, Kendal lost by 11 runs to Blackpool Seconds in the Loxham Cup. But the highlight of the game came from Terry Hunte who scored 102 runs from 101 balls.

Hunte, who has played for the club since 1993, made a return to the Auld Greys after a couple of seasons out due to injury.

Blackpool posted an imposing first innings chase of 227-8 with Syed Kazmi making 44 before Joseph Dodds picked up figures of 3-36.

In reply, Kendal came close to chasing the runs down with Hunte’s 102 and Chris Marshall’s 39. But Joel Watson’s 4-45 saw Kendal restricted to 216-8.

Netherfield seconds are top of Palace Shield Division One B following a convincing eight wicket win at St Annes.

Stuart Nixon picked up first innings figures of 4-50 while St Annes were all out for 116 off 31.4 overs.

In reply, Theo Gallagher’s 34, and Finlay Richardsons 32 saw Netherfield close in before Donovan Du Plessis posted an undefeated 21 to seal the win as Netherfield closed on 120-2 off 21.5 overs.

Netherfield seconds host Blackpool Seconds on Saturday while Kendal Seconds host Great Eccleston’s Second Team who are top of the division.

Both matches start at 1.30pm.
