RISING Shadow has ticks in all the right boxes for the Ayr Gold Cup (3.30pm, the feature race of the afternoon at the Scottish track.

The Thirks-bred six-year-old needs a full-out gallop and easy ground to be at his best and he will have both of those in today's six-furlong showpiece.

He is pretty well epoxed and carries a fair bit of weight but the booking of jockey Seb Sanders suggests he is more highly-rated than his current tempting odds of 25-1 suggest.

Pipedreamer romped in at Goodwood and John Godsen's progressive sort can follow up at Newbury in the John Smith's Stakes (Heritage Handicap) at 3.10pm.

Kevin Burke's Philario notched a fast time and is worth a small investment to beat some hotpots at the same track.
