Kendal 31, Cleckheaton 15.
Yet it was not kicking alone, but another solid defensive performance by the increasingly impressive Black and Ambers which turned over a side who have scored heavily in their previous matches.
Nick McKain scored from his own chip ahead and Stephens added the conversion, plus a drop goal and two penalties, including one from the halfway line to give Kendal a 16-3 lead at the break.
A yellow card for Liam Hayton gave the visitors respite in the second and two tries. One converted, brought them back to 2-15, but when Kendal's burly second row man was restored to the field after his ten minutes in the sin bin, it was back to business usual with the scrum setting up a good platform which led to a penalty try as right winger John Ladell was obstructed as he went to touch down and a well worked ball across to the other wing where Stephens made the final touchdown in the corner.
