SPORTS clubs and community projects across Cumbria can make use of a new toolkit of free sporting photography; facts; stats; information and even visits from sporting champions to help increase membership at their club.
Sport England has developed the Promoting Sport toolkit which is available to all local authorities; sports clubs and projects to use in increasing participation in sport.
Stewart Kellett, Regional Director, Sport England NW: ‘Community sports clubs are the backbone of sport. Without them we all have fewer opportunities to get involved in sport. And we have fewer champions.
This toolkit provides a whole range of information and resources that any club can use to promote the club and the sports it offers.’ ‘We have some fantastic, hardworking sports clubs here in Cumbria. But the participation challenge is a real one. Half of us in the North West do no sport or activity at all, and this impacts on health, well being, even happiness.
"Sport England North West’s focus, and that of our partners, is to get 250,000 more North West people into sport by 2012.
"The Promoting Sport Toolkit is here to help clubs, projects and councils get more people into more sports. It should be of real benefit to smaller sports clubs in Cumbria who may not have the same promotional resources as their larger neighbours.’ The toolkit is available at: www.sportengland.org
