THE Cambridgeshire at Newmarket (3.55) is traditionally one of the toughest handicaps to win and the handicapper may have given Babodana a bit of a sniff at this major prize.
It takes a leap of faith to fancy Mark Tompkins' seven-year-old, who has not won for four years, but a 2lb drop (equivalent to four lengths) at the weights, plus a decent run behind Group class Winged Cupid a few appearances ago, suggerst he might get into the argument here.
Otherwise, you can take your pick from a host of improving three-year-olds - but splitting them isn't easy. Teslin beat Monte Alto and may confirm the form, which looks slightly better than Pipedreamer's.
Jumbajukiba has won snugly on his last two outing and though Jessica Haarrington's stable is better known for its jumps horses, a Group 3 prize looks for the taking in the Joel Stakes (2.45), though flashy-looking Ferneley would be a big threat if back to best.
Seb Saunders' is still gunning for the jockeys' title and CraggyCat in the Totescoop Trophy at Redcar (3.35) can help him on his way. Because the weights are framed at a mark based on the auction price of the runners, the selection is 12lb better in than his future handicap mark.
Brendan Meehan's two-year-olds are flying and Ernie Owl gets the vote in Kempton's 2.05, while the BBC televised races from the Arc meeting at Longchamp are a treat and US Ranger (2.25) and Echo of Light (3.30) look tempting.
