10:00am Monday 29th October 2007 in
Huddersfield 14, Kendal 21.
This clash of the two unbeaten sides lived up to all pre-match expectations with the lead changing hands four times before Kendal wrapped up the points to go two points clear at the top of North Division One.
The home side led 9-3 at the break, Chris Johnson landing three penalties to one by Kendal fly-half Dan Stephens.
Kendal then survived a ten minute spell when No.8 Rob Quarry was yellow-carded for stamping, and took the lead in the 49th minute with a try by prop-forward Billy Coxon, converted by Stephens, while the home side were also a man down, Johnson having been sin-binned for back chat to the referee.
On 60 minutes Huddersfield's pack drove towards the Kendal line and scrum half Damian Clayton dived in to put Huddersfield back in front at 14-13 with an unconverted try.
A Stephens penalty made it 15-13 to Kendal with minutes to go and, as Huddersfield threw everything into a last-ditch attack, Kendal centre Ian Voortman hacked a fumbled ball up field and flanker Nick McKain summoned up dregs of energy to run 40 metres for an unconverted try.
