APPLEBY sidecar racing champion Andrew Laidlaw has received a welcome boost as he prepares for this year's TT Races.
Appleby Town Council has granted £200 towards the sidecar racing team's expenses for the Isle of Man event, which takes place in late May and early June.
Last year electrician Mr Laidlaw and his sidecar passenger Darren Dodgson, also of Appleby, notched up 10th place in the TT. They became Formula 2 British champions and took second place in the Super F2 British Championship.
Mr Dodgson has now retired from the team because of family and work commitments, and the new team member is Patrick Farrance, of Wakefield.
Mr Laidlaw said he was very grateful for the town council grant.
