MORE than half-a-million pounds will be spent turning Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club into “one of the best rugby clubs in the North”.
The club, at Underley Park, has so many members and children attending each week that it is building a £550,000 wing to house them. The extension will boast 12 changing rooms, a shower block, function room and kitchen and plans for a new access route for cars have also been approved by planners at South Lakeland District Council.
“one of the best in the North”.
Richard Taylor
Kirkby Lonsdale town councillor Richard Taylor told a meeting on Wednesday that club members were now planning fund-raising events after a grant fell through, leaving them £200,000 short of their target.
Coun Taylor added the work would make the club “one of the best in the North”.
