FELL RUNNING: Britta Sendlhofer, aged 36 from Ambleside, has secured a coveted place in one of the greatest long-distance trail races in the world, The North Face Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc.
The North Face Ultra du Mont-Blanc will bring together runners from over 60 countries worldwide.
The 166 km race runs over three days, passes through three countries (France, Italy, Switzerland) and passes over ten mountain peaks.
Unsurprisingly, it is one of the hardest endurance running events in the world. However, the Ambleside runner is taking it all in her stride and said: " I wanted a new challenge and after competing and gaining a place in a qualifying round I thought why not give it a try - some of my friends are running and I hope to at least beat them!"
Meanwhile Keith Byrne, North Face's Strategic Marketing Manager, is expecting impressive performances from British runners.
He said: "This year's UK entrants are of a very high standard and ability. They have been training for many months for this event, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of them come out on top." To find out more about the race go to: www.ultatrailmb.com
