CARTMEL Valley Baseball Club has been chosen to host the 2008 National Youth Baseball Finals this Saturday and Sunday at their field at Cartmel Priory School.
Eight teams will take part in the competition to decide the overall winners in the U13 and U16 categories, who will then be crowned National Champions.
Cartmel Valley Pony (U16) and Bronco (U13) teams qualified for the event by winning the North West leagues earlier in the year.
At least 120 players between the ages of 11 and 16 will take part in this weekend's tournament.
Jonathon Pearson, Head Coach at Cartmel Valley, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our club. All the members are extremely excited about hosting this event, and welcoming teams from around the country.
“The beautiful South Lakes village is a great setting for the Finals and we hope the visiting teams will enjoy the weekend of baseball.
“Baseball is such an enjoyable sport, we welcome parents and friend to come down on the day and cheer us on, and can even give you some batting tips if you fancy a go yourself!"
The Cartmel Valley Club hope to repeat or better their 2006 achievement when their U13s were National Champions and U16s were runners-up in the final. The teams also made it to the play-offs in 2007.
